Operation Yields Arrest of Thomas Newton

On July 13th, 2019 the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a male party identified as Thomas John Newton, 41 years of age, of Sterling relating to the Unlawful Distribution of Methamphetamines. During the investigation, it was discovered that Newton had a valid Felony Warrant for Parole Violation out of the Colorado Department of Corrections that listed him as an offender with violent tendencies. On the evening of July 13th, a joint operation between the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office and the Holyoke Police Department resulted in the arrest of Thomas Newton after he agreed to meet an adolescent female to sell methamphetamines to her. Newton is being held on the following charges without bond until he is advised by a judge:

  • Attempted Unlawful Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Class 4 Drug Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Substance (Class 4 Drug Felony)
  • Possession of an Illegal Weapon (Class 5 Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (Class 5 Felony)
  • Parole Violation Warrant (Felony)
